After 22 years, I shut down FREEwilliamsburg this month. Deemed the “Grandaddy of Brooklyn Blogs” by Brick Underground and an “essential New York blog” by New York, I can’t believe I kept this thing going for over two decades. I feel sad and elated all at once. I have lots to say about it in this farewell post.

BrooklynVegan is approaching our 16th year, which seems old, so it’s crazy to think that fellow Brooklyn culture blog Free Williamsburg — a site I was definitely a fan of in 2004 when I started BrooklynVegan — is today calling it a day after 22 years. I’ve been touched all week hearing from fans and contributors, dating back to the 90s. Fare thee well, Freewilly! We had a good run.
